ACCNJ Safety Day 2024

ACCNJ will once again host this exceptional event - Safety Day - on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, which will coincide with Construction Safety Week and OSHA’s Stand Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. On that day, participating members will place a special, coordinated emphasis on safety in a variety of ways.

Safety Day is aimed at promoting the importance of safety in all aspects of the construction industry, including raising public awareness about using caution when traveling around all construction work zones and to refocus the attention of workers on the key elements of staying safe while on the job. These goals are designed to ensure those individuals working on member job sites will be able to return home to their families safe and sound each day. This is our opportunity to thank your teams for protecting themselves and showing they care for others.

In addition to work zone safety, last year we highlighted the importance of physical wellbeing as health issues cost employers billions of dollars each year and have a tremendous impact on an individual's lifestyle. As we continue to focus on health, this year we will encourage members to emphasize protecting workers from heat-related hazards. With one of the warmest winters on record in the northeast, we need to be prepared and educate craftworkers on the potential for a spring and summer of record-setting temperatures.

Also, the substantial investment in safety training and education made by union contractors and craftworkers is paramount to our partnership with union labor. As part of our effort, we will be distributing Safety Day banners emphasizing this relationship.
